For a while, I had content scattered all over the internet and even I couldn’t make sense of it. A central space for digital content was necessary at this point in my career. KyleAnderson.us is the home to my personal blog, DJ mixes, and professional portfolio as a journalist, photographer, and video producer. I love making cool things, telling stories, expressing myself and sharing the world around me.
I’m currently a fourth-year student at Northern Arizona University with a double major in Electronic Media and Film and Journalism. For work, I’m the Web Operations Manager for NAZ Today, Flagstaff’s only TV newscast and Arizona’s only live student-produced news show, and JackCentral, the website for The Lumberjack newspaper. I also direct at least one NAZ Today show per week.
From time to time, I’ll take on freelance jobs for video production and reporting.
Some people might consider mixing a personal blog and a professional portfolio on one website suicide. But I hold that personality, culture, ideals, and professional persona are not separate, especially in today’s media market. The roadies I’ve met on gigs all have character and generally do good work. Honesty is important, and if a professional reading a blog can’t understand that, I probably wouldn’t want to work for them anyway.
So here’s to doing cool things and having honest fun while we’re at it.
